I think it's because Wednesday indicates that two full work days have passed, but also that you have an equal amount of time to go before celebrations at the functioning of the Gregorian calendar (i.e. the weekend) can commence.
Also, I think that cockroach at the front desk idea is wonderfully cinematic, and wish to use it in a short film script. I'll credit you as a Cockroach Wrangler, shall I?
I don't work Mondays so I'm okay with them, Maria. Wednesdays are just awkward - also there's the whole 'hump day' thing. I swear people who comment on it being hump day deserve to be shot.
Martin, I would love to be your Cockroach Wrangler. It wasn't a joke though, there really is a cockroach at the entrance to my building who screens who can enter. I am so very afraid of him.

Ah, you say that to me now...!
When would have been good?
Next Wednesday in an alternate dimension would have been nice! See if you can't get it cleared up with the chappie at the front desk, pip pip.
Ah, I see how you've gotten confused. That's no chappie, that's a giant cockroach with ideas above its station.
I'm not much of a fan of Wednesdays - I prefer Tuesdays or Thursdays. I seem to be adding a thing about 'T's to my 'N' and 'J' things.
I'm not a Wednesday fan either. There's a thing about hating Mondays, but Wednesdays aren't my fave day either.

Mmm, hump da--oh, I have been mortally wounded. Help, I have fallen and cannot get up.
The door roach will eat you! Crawl away! FAST!
