Word to the wise...

Don't try and show up my arsehole tendencies. It's too late, everyone who matters already knows. They either don't care or they've long since fucked off. It really is that simple.

You can own it anyway. You're the sassy source of fun that every office needs! You tell it like it is, and your dry sarcastic wit is loved by all.

At least this is what I choose to believe.

I generally choose to believe that too, Mark, but, and this is a hell of a revelation to me too - some people just don't get it. At all. Ever.

You just can't tell people that their interpretation of your commentary is fucked up and that maybe they should take Sense'o'humour 101...Still, anyone that dim probably thinks sarcasm is the lowest form of humour and yet fails to recognise it at a hundred paces.

I was sitting in a car the other night, and there was a girl in the back seat sitting in and nominally being included in a free-floating late night conversation I was having. I was informed later that I terrified the living shit out of her. I'm not sure why, but I guess it's for similar reasons to the above. People seem not to connect my off-handed comments about mass murder, flaming car wrecks and violent death with my finely and highly developed sense of macabre humour.

However! It's an excellent tool for the detecting of possible relationship candidates (anyone who either 'gets it' or doesn't run screaming is definitely at the top of the list).

See, Martin, for that I would have pinched you on your little red cheeks and gotten on with the business of finding targets/victims and planning all the little details that make mayhem and murder such fun. Perhaps she's come from the kind of family where people don't joke about blowing things up and how best to kill their enemies...?

Martin Kingsley said...

What kind of family is that? A dysfunctional one, I tell ya.

Shelley said...

Certainly not one that I understand, Martin.

Why are people so freaked out by sarcasm? No one has any sense of humor at all it seems. Unfortunate.

Too true, Julia. I wonder how these people cope with the crap of life when they have so little by way of humour.

I just don't see how you can get through the day without threatening to kill at least one irredeemable Oedipal-grade motherfucker.

Shelley said...

It's not even like one threatens to their freaky inbred faces is it, Martin? *sigh* Some people...

Martin Kingsley said...

Actually, on consideration, I threaten to kill people, with various degrees of jocularity intact, to their faces all the time!

Oh dear, I think I did that yesterday.
