Soundtrack of my days.

Those of you who have been attending lately will have noticed that there's been some running commentary and a number of small and lame jokes - on my part - on the soundtrack to my life. Turns out the soundtrack was in existence but I hadn't quite gotten round to buying it.

There's this feeling of déjà vu, isn't there? You know what's coming (well, thanks to the lovefest that is Fuctbook some of you probably already do). Turns out the magical mystery being who has, time and again, written the songs of my days has done it again. And I just happened to buy the album a few months too late to realise.

I make an awkward and half-arsed cheerleader and, also, being such a fan my judgement is probably not to be trusted but I really must say that Mr Cocker is a man who is improving with age. And I'd still totally do him - such a pity I'm no longer 23.

I am interested to hear what the man has to sing post-Pulp, though i know he's been at it for a while. A clever fellow, and so cocky and cool. Does your fuctbook identity differ from Nails? On FB I am Mitzi G Burger. Friend me!? I promise to restrain my enthusiasm. I have been accused of disproportional warmth in the past.

My fuctbook identity is not so much an identity as my actual name. It had to be either/or as this is a terribly anonymous blog and my name is not very common. Can't seem to find you on fuctbook - it's probably malfunctioning - I'm sure we have a mutual 'friend' and that I've seen you comment or something. I could just be confusing my internets though.

I love Pulp with an unholy passion but I really do think JC is getting better and better.

An investigatory thought has crossed my mind ... meanwhile I was just dropping in to say that your post title reminded me of the Judith Wright book "South of My Days" (it was by her, no?) Happy listening )to JC and friends.)

Hey, another person who likes Judith Wright! That's uncommon.

I, like Mitzi, have never listened to JC's solo material. Can you recommend me a few tracks to start?

He's getting a heavier sound with age too which is nice. Caucasian Blues has quite a pleasant 80's punk feel to it.

Tough ask, Mark. It's easier for me to pick the ones I'm not that keen on. Still... from Jarvis:Don't let him waste your time, Black Magic, From A to I, Running the world, Baby's coming back to me; from Further Complications: "Further Complications", I never said I was deep, Leftovers, Angela, Homewrecker!, Fuckingsong, Caucasian Blues (which, oddly enough, reminds me of Daytripper in places – so you’ll hate it now…).

I think Dan should add his favourites to give a slightly more balanced recommendation.
