Things to do, someday.

I have a cousin who has a rental property in the Blue Mountains. I want to go there and spend a week or two writing. I cannot do it here.

... though judging from your last post, you seem to be doing a pretty good imitation of writing. Which is much more than 99.9 per cent of people are capable of.

I blush - as well as shamelessly ripping off Girls are Pretty. Blog posts are different though. They are more diary than anything.

Imitation, schimitation. Do I criticise the perfect slice of gingerbread because it tastes exactly like the perfect slice of gingerbread I ate a year ago? It's the same thing with writing. I rip off other writers all the time.

Gee, Tim, I hadn't noticed :p

I don't, however, want to be always ripping off other people. Or, even, I wouldn't mind if I had something to say. Somehow I never get the two in the same room...or on the same page...whatever.

Oh, and I meant to say, some blog posts are more diarrhea than anything. But the moment has passed. It has passed!

The moment is NOW!

Yeah, go do it. Mind you, having said that, I hate all that crap about needing a good 'writer's space' to get anything done. As if your talent was powered by Feng Shui. Go out there, but start practicing now - because you can.

Mark - What talent? The problem here is that I am distracted by things that need doing and if I do them then I'll be too tired to do anything but sit down and watch one of the Matrixes and maybe have some, er, private moments with Keanu.

What I need is a holiday and one that doesn't involve my parents descending on my tiny little home... le sigh, what it is to be loved, eh?

Also, cousin or no, I could never afford it :( - or get there.

Tim, er, your blog or mine? Actually, no, don't answer that.

You should band together with other writers and share the space as long as you don't talk to each other during business hours. That's kind of how most writers retreats work anyway.

Well, in a world of necessity art is bound to be a rare thing, isn't it? But I bet you're not so overburdened that you can't find a few moments to scribble down a poem - and that's the place to start, since there's no point in being at a retreat if you don't have the practice in place. Give it a go, and don't wait! :)

"As if your talent was powered by Feng Shui."

Dang!

Are you sure it isn't?

Do you have proof?

Do I have to take the little water fountain out of the grocery cupboard now?

*Shrugs*

I suppose it would be nice to have crispy weetbix again.

Oh dear god, not poetry! We haven't been on speaking terms in over a decade and I don't think I can go back there!
I think I just need a holiday, Mark. Again, a proper one. I think we all know that I'll always be scribbling some crap somewhere.

Ah, Caz, the talent was the debatable point. Feng shui merely Mark's little joke. How he mocks me, woe, etc.
